Principal's Message

August 2011

Dear TLHS Students and Families:

As we prepare for our eleventh successful year of operation at Toussaint L'Ouverture High School for Arts & Social Justice (TLHS), we are excited to announce that the academic and extracurricular programs at TLHS are thriving. This year, the school will be located at 301 SW 14th Avenue in Delray Beach (next to Village Academy).

You are all invited to attend our beginning-of-the-year Open House sessions on Thursday, August 18, 2011 from 9 AM until 1 PM and Friday, August 19, 2011, from noon until 6 PM. Both sessions will give you a chance to meet your student's teachers and administrators and to become more informed about how families can be involved in their students' education. As always, we invite your involvement in your student's education.

Please note that our school hours of operation have been revised slightly: Students must arrive (in dress code of course!) by 7:45 each day if they want to eat breakfast at school. Classes begin at 8:00 AM (note the earlier start time!) and finish at 3:00 PM. We will also have after-school tutoring and GED preparation from 3 until 4:15 PM each day.

Our School Advisory Committee (SAC) has openings for new members. We are still looking for additional members. Please call Nicole Toussaint at the school (561) 859-3614 for more information and/or to make a contribution of your time. This is also a great opportunity to have input in your student's education by monitoring the progress of our School Improvement Plan.

Please be aware that we are continually updating our web site at www.toussaintlouverture.org.

Let us know how we may answer your questions. We look forward to continuing a great year.

Sincerely,

Mandy Freedman, M.Ed.

Principal
